The Richmond Dodgeball League continues to closely monitor the public health developments regarding COVID-19. The safety of our players, volunteers, families and friends remains of the utmost importance.
The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has assessed the public health risk associated with COVID-19 as low for Canada. With that in mind, all RDL games will continue as scheduled until further notice. However, we acknowledge that this could change rapidly; therefore, please stay alert for any updates.
RDL is advising players to maintain good hygiene practices, including regular and thorough washing of hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, or cleansing with alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
Other precautions include:
- not touching your face/eyes/mouth with unwashed hands
- covering your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue or the crease of your elbow, when sneezing or coughing, and then washing your hands
- not sharing water bottles
- substituting our usual high-fives at the end games with zero contact acknowledges of sportsmanship
In addition, RDL is abiding by the BC Ministry of Health recommendation and asking players that all travellers returning from any travel, especially Iran, Italy and China, South Korea and Japan, to self-isolate for 14 days upon their arrival in Canada.
Any player who is quarantined or in self isolation, will not have those weeks count against their playoff eligibility (i.e. those weeks will count as if the player was present in the gym). RDL continues to encourage players to stay home if they are not feeling well or are showing symptoms of illness. This is not only to protect other players, but their friends and families, as well.
We appreciate your cooperation in our joint efforts to keep our community healthy. As stated above, RDL will continue to monitor the situation and will contact you with any updates as they occur.
